The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Wondering whose interest the right wing members of Congress hold as their top priority? Well it doesn’t get much clearer than the statements made by some of these members during a House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee hearing held on May 24, 2011. House Republicans have accused Elizabeth Warren, the head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), of improperly interfering with the government’s efforts to resolve disputes over home mortgage foreclosures. The arguments and rationale of the Republicans are laughable, unfortunately their charges and accusations are serious. Despite these ludicrous allegations, I commend Representative Elijah Cummings (D-Maryland) for his upright and frank remarks. The first part of the hearing during which Warren is questioned runs just over an hour long.
